RALEIGH, NC — Wake Tech is holding its Fall 2026 Veterans Ceremony and Career Expo on Thursday, November 5 at the Southern Wake Campus on Fayetteville Road, the week before Veterans Day. A short ceremony comes first, then three hours of employment and resource tables built for the military community. If you have served and are job hunting in Wake County, block off the morning.

What Is Happening on November 5

Wake Tech Career Services lists the expo on its events calendar for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The North Carolina Department of Commerce includes it on its Employ A Veteran Week events list, with the fuller schedule: the Veterans Day ceremony runs from 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the Building L Conference Center, and the Employment & Resources Expo follows from 11 to 2.

North Carolina marks Employ A Veteran Week every year around Veterans Day, and Wake Tech's event is the one on the state's 2026 list that falls inside Raleigh.

⚠️ Read This Before You Drive Down

Here is what has not been published. Wake Tech's listing does not name any employers, does not say whether the expo is open to the public or only to students and alumni, and does not list a cost. Registration runs through Handshake, the college's student career platform. That usually means students and alumni sign in there, but it does not tell you whether a veteran with no Wake Tech connection can walk in.

The state lists the event as a local opportunity for veterans, which is a good sign, but nobody has put "open to all veterans" in writing. Call Wake Tech at 919-866-5000 and ask for Career Services before you go. Two minutes on the phone beats finding out at the door.

No employer roster has been posted either, so we cannot tell you who will be at the tables.

How to Make the Three Hours Count

  • Bring a civilian resume. Turn your MOS or rating into plain job titles and results a hiring manager can read in ten seconds. Bring several printed copies.
  • Bring your DD-214 information and any security clearance details. Federal, state and defense contractor recruiters ask about them first.
  • Ask about veterans' preference. State and federal employers in the Triangle often have one, and the person at the table can tell you how it works in their hiring process.
  • Get there early. The last hour of any expo is the thinnest.

Another Option the Next Week

If November 5 does not work, or the expo turns out to be limited to Wake Tech students and alumni, there is another in-person event a week later. The Raleigh Job Fair on November 12 at the Hilton North Hills is free and in person. Different event, different day, different crowd.
